Jerry Reynolds was the second of two brothers. His older brother, Will, was tall, handsome, athletic, outgoing, and highly intelligent. Jerry? Not so much! Jerry was stumpy, round, plain-looking, and about as unathletic as they come. Possibly as a result of this contrast in body and personality and body types Jerry developed a low threshold of pain at an early age. If the 'goin' got tough' Jerry would just quit. He got into the habit of quitting while in grade school. Consequently he frustrated many people who tried to help or befriend him, including his parents. So . . . could he ever overcome the obstacle of his own stubborn self? Yes, but only with the kind of stubborn, tough love and encouragement that went the second mile. And then the third and fourth. Of course a little help from "A Man Upstairs" didn't hurt either.
